Instructional Assistant Prep

Registration is NOW CLOSED for the 2023-24 School Year!

Registration for the 2024-25 School Year will open in late July. Please check back to this page at that time to get registered for classes this fall

The purpose of this class is to assist students in preparing for the SJUSD Instructional Assistant test. The test is comprised of three parts as follows:

  1. Assisting Instruction
  2. English/Grammar/Reading Comprehension
  3. Mathematics (focus on basic skills and pre-algebra concepts)

Students must pass each part of the test with at least a 70% score to meet the overall testing requirement. Once a student passes a part, they do not need to repeat that part again. A student does not have to pass all three parts at the same time.

Students will use a variety of materials, resources (including online programs) and technology in the classroom. Students will  work independently, as well as collectively, by being part of whole-class instructional lessons and related activities, assignments, and skill-building tasks. Attendance matters - students not actively working and/or participating will be dropped.
